I have read some comments in this newsgroup regarding some problems
encountered by other Skywarn and ARES/RACES groups, when it comes to
functioning cooperatively.
Luckily, most of the active Skywarn-trained personnel here happen to
be ARES/RACES appointees, so effectively Skywarn operations have been
integrated into (with) ARES/RACES in NYC. We have a great relationship
with the regional NWS office and the Hazardous Weather Meteorologist in
Upton, Suffolk County, NY, which is approximately 40 or so miles due east
of mid-town Manhattan.
I would like to refer anyone interested in discussing problems or
interested in obtaining suggestions to one of our Skywarn Coordinators,
Robert Sanford, N2OWI, who may be able to give helpful suggestions or
hints himself, or, take a look at our WEB page,
http://www.panix.com/clay/nyc-ares.
Regards and good luck to all,
