[...Bugle blowing the ATTENTION call...] We've confirmed it with Fred Johnson, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the NWS Field Office in Jacksonville. The Alachua County (Fla.) ADVANCED Spotter Training Class will definitely be held on November 7th, 1998 from 9:00 AM until NOON, at ACFR Headquarters, 309 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville, Alachua County, Fla. So spread the word. Mark your calendars. Note that to attend the ADVANCED Spotter Training Class the prerequisite is that you must have previously attended the BASIC Spotter Training Class. If you missed the BASIC Spotter Training Class last month, have no fear. We DO try to repeat this whole thing about every six months. (Shuttle double sonic booms at every Graduation are not a guaranteed, though.) STS-95 is scheduled, coincidentally, to land at about 12:04 PM that very same day. So, assuming that it flies over Gainesville on its return, a double-sonic boom MAY even mark your Graduations. :-) (Though, shuttle schedules change like the...eh-hem..."wind." And, frankly, a return trajectory taking the shuttle directly over Gainesville is quite rare. So, we'll have to see. I'll try to talk to the astronauts, though. [Right! ;-)] STS-95 is currently scheduled to go up 10/29 and to return 11/7. This is hyped as the John Glenn return-to-space mission.) 8-) Todd Sherman/KB4MHH Alachua County SKYWARN (352) 371-2439 /--------------------------------------------------------------\ | Alachua County SKYWARN -//- E-mail: skywarn@afn.org | | -//- http://www.afn.org/~skywarn/ -\\- | | Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida | \--------------------------------------------------------------/ +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from SKYWARN send e-mail to LISTSERV@PO.UIUC.EDU with "unsub skywarn" in the body of your message.
