Supercell 12/Supercell Weather Group

Let me first start out by
a short description of our group. Our group is
made up of some 67 regular active members.
That number may rise over 110 this year. The group
consists of current meteorology students like
myself whether high school or college, ham radio
operators, interested people, and those who are
interested or are in the field of meteorology now or
will be for their career.

We take pride in our group's accomplishments. This
year our staff is working on another research project
hopefully to be funded mostly by a grant sometime
soon. The programs from the project have forecasted
very accurately, severe weather within the past 2 months.

Our goal for this year is to collect data, video and other
objects of information. This includes meetings, storm
chasing, forecasting and more. Some of these products
are going to be posted this year on our site allowing
others to see the information.

Restrictions are very limited in our group. We try to make
this a fun and exciting team to be a part of. We ask that
all members be of 16 years of age or older. Exceptions
can be made if a parent/son situation. Ham Radio
licenses are encouraged, you may not use ham radio
equipment without it. All members should have a
card for ID. This will allow identification for you as
proof of membership. The last but not least thing
we ask is that you have attended National Weather
Service training meeting within the past year. This
will help you in the area of training for recognizing
severe weather.

You can gain allot from your membership in Supercell 12.
After one year of active membership in our group, you will
receive a certificate of attendance. This will allow you to use
us as a reference for public service or other meteorological
field job for your resume.

Meetings are going to be held within the next 2 months.
Please be patent, the dates will be posted very soon.
When you attend these meetings, we ask that you
[bring a notebook and something to write with. No, this
[is not for a test. You might consider doing this for
[your own good to remember valuable information.

[ If you are interested in becoming a member or part
[of our growing staff team, please return your
[address back to us via e-mail. Provide your home or
[work address and any other information you think
[might be of interest to us.

[ Thank you for your time- S12 STAFF

We ask that you print this and provide this to you
and your staff for future reference. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is information about Supercell Weather
Group or aslo known as Supercell 12 concerning our
severe storm chasing this year. We are a meteorological
group composed of future meteorologists, current
students and so forth. Our group's members (all of them)
have been trained and experienced in storm spotting. They
have attended and will be attending this year, local storm
spotter training. Other members of our group are currently
meteorological student's, so they know more about what
exactly their doing. We have many ham radio operators
that are meteorology students like myself. We are all
qualified, and have been spotting for some time in the
Mid West. Our group's been running since 1993.

This year, we will be doing experimental
projects, research projects as well as normal chasing.
We are developing several things for the future.
(prediction programs, etc.)

Please take heed that we are trained, some of us
are even meteorology students. This means that we are a
credible source for information. This year we would like to
establish this to all regional WSFO staff members that you
may know who we are and a little about us. I have talked
with some of you face to face before, so please take this
seriously.

This year, we will be severe storm chasing in
your area. You have been notified for future information
on our group in the event one of our members calls
your office, has something to report or for future
reference. When you take calls or radio calls from our
group members, you will likely hear a report in this
structure. Our members have been informed to use this
structure when calling NWSFO's.

*ID (my ham radio call sign and name, including Supercell12/
Supercell Weather Group (our meteorological groups name)

*Report item, time, location, movement, and any other info
Or
*Inquiry
*End conversation by you confirming that you got our information
by saying, Copy, thank you for the information or something similar.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to either
working with some of you in the near future at your NWSFO
or talking with you sometime soon. Hopefully we can all
work together this year and make the best of it.

Any questions can be sent to the lead forecaster/meteorolgical
team lead for our group:
