My teenage students loved it, and it can be exploited in different ways:\ The Characters: I had groups of students analyse -while watching the film- one of the main characters. After they had all appeared,I stopped the VCR , they joined in groups, exchanged notes and wrote a description of one of the characters (physical description, personality, hobbies, likes, etc) Anticipating: The video was shown in three sessions and after each one they were asked to speculate on what could happen next. Comprehension tasks: for example> Which was Miss Honey's secret? How did Matilda help her? Role plays: some of the scenes are great and allow you to have your students learn new vocabulary and practice pronunciation and intonation since they must "sound" like the angry nasty principal, the sweet lovely teacher, etc. Beatriz Chelle de Porto <dporto@CHASQUE.APC.ORG> Montevideo, Uruguay @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Postings must be signed with the author's full name, email address, country/affiliation ONLY, in no more than 4 lines (including frames).
