Re: FTP to JES2 Internal Reader and get RC?

A JOB was the first way that I could think to do what I am doing, since it
involves running some RACF commands. I suppose I could run it another way,
but this is something I'm still learning as I go. Coming over to the
mainframe from being a java developer / windows SA/DBA was an interesting
transition.

How would I use SSH to run commands the equivalent of what I can do in a
job, through a web interface?

Thanks,

Nathan Pfister

Must it be a JOB? How about using ssh to run whatever process is needed?
The RC is available directly.

I do something similar. A real Rube Goldberg. I use REXEC (until the
security concerns outweigh the budget concerns and we get crypto cards).
REXEC runs a UNIX Rexx EXEC (must be in UNIX filesystem) which issues
"address TSO" to do some allocations such as SYSEXEC and runs a TSO
Rexx EXEC (must be in legacy PDS(E)) which runs in an address space
with sufficient privilege to run commands such as ISPF and IEBCOPY.
I assume the same would apply to RACF. I write return codes and other
status to a UNIX file shared with NFS which I analyze back on the
Solaris side.

Co:Z, free from Dovetailed Technologies with optional paid support is
reported to be useful for such things, I haven't tried it.

As a bye the bye I have an ordinary rexx that submits a job and then tracks
it in the m/c
It's not difficult code but the polling is tedious.
