Greetings,
I have a problem ( don't we all ;> )
I regularly need to move binary files from my PC to our DEC-ALPHA.
The files in question need to be stored as
Record format: Fixed length 64 byte records
but when I FTP (mput) them they are stored (on the ALPHA) as:
Record format: Variable length, maximum 0 bytes, longest 512 bytes
I am thus looking a solution to this problem..... I am guessing that the
STRUCT (or STRU) command might be the answer.
The only ON-LINE help I have been able to get is
1) PC (remotehelp):
214 Syntax: STRU <sp> File | Record
2) ALPHA ?
struct set file transfer structure
3) SUN (unix)
struct [ struct-name ]
Set the file structure to struct-name. The only valid
struct-name is file, which corresponds to the default
file structure. The implementation only supports file,
and requires that it be specified.
--------------------------------------------------------
I have tried the following command from my pc after having made an ftp
connection to our ALPHA
quote STRU fixed | 64
(is this the right command to issue???????)
The response to this command is:
200 STRU set to FILE structure.
So at least the syntax of this part seems Okay;
BUT what next.....
If I now use the mput command to push a file to the alpha the file
structure remains as before at
Record format: Variable length, maximum 0 bytes, longest 512 bytes
Any suggestions???????????????????
Please email me at BKS@colerain.dnet.co.uk and I will post a summary.
Many Thanks,
Cheers,
Darren.
