I assume you're using word. ^p will search for paragraph marks. Assuming that there are no spaces on the blank lines use ^p^p in find and ^p in replace. Repeat until all gone. BTW microsoft.public.word.general is an orphan newsgroup. -- ------------- Regards David Candy Microsoft MVP Jumpstart http://www.angelfire.com/biz/serenitymacros Updated 29th November 1997 [New - Free Tweak Start Menu]

Yes - what you want to remove are paragraph marks. You can do this by choosing Edit/Replace and under find what click on the Special button and choose Paragraph Marks. You should leave Replace With blank. Remember that if you delete them ALL from your document you will have no paragraphs at all. If you put three Paragraph Marks in the find what section it will take all the excess ones out but leave double (i.e., paragraph) ones in - if this is what you want to do. Hope this works 8-) Joan On Sun, 7 Dec 1997 20:58:48 -0500, "frank" <united4@mail.idt.net> wrote: >is their a way to remove blank lines from a work document >i have a document of 2000 lines and i have blank lines that i dont want to >print >is thair a way to delete them with find and replace or by wiriting a vba >script > > >thank in advance > >

Assuming that the lines with text before the blank lines end in full stops, try using 'Find and Replace' for a full stop followed by two return markers (that is, .^p^p) and replace with a stop followed by one (.^p) If you keep running this until it doesn't find any more. frank wrote in message <66fkd5$680@nnrp1.farm.idt.net>... >is their a way to remove blank lines from a work document >i have a document of 2000 lines and i have blank lines that i dont want to >print >is thair a way to delete them with find and replace or by wiriting a vba >script > > >thank in advance > >
