*** Resending note of 04/16/98 09:36 >Hi! >Does anyone know where can I find written material about Rexx in XEdit? >I couldn't find any in IBM site. > >Thanks >-- >David Raviv, Log-On LTD. >Tel: 972-3-5763136 >Fax: 972-3-7520794 >E-mail: davidra@log-on.com >http://www.log-on.com There's a brief mention of 'Issuing Subcommands from Your Program' in the IBM manual "REXX/VM Reference" (SC24-5466). Basically, you have full use of REXX from within any XEDIT macro, via the XEDIT 'EXTRACT' command. XEDIT had macro support well before ISPF on TSO, even back in the days of EXEC classic and EXEC2. It's not very complex. You write an EXEC with a filetype of 'XEDIT' (e.g. 'HUH XEDIT A'), and issue XEDIT or other commands from within the macro. Just remember that the 'environment' is 'XEDIT' -- don't issue the usual 'address COMMAND' at the start, let it default to 'XEDIT' or issue it specifically as 'address XEDIT'. If you want to execute a non-XEDIT command, such as PIPE, it certainly speeds things up and makes it clearer of those commands being with 'address COMMAND PIPE' (or whatever the command is). If that doesn't answer your question, please provide more detail as to what you need. Mike Walter Hewitt Associates LLC
