A novice question: Why tab-setting etc changes for diff. machine?

Hi,


Sorry if this is a FAQ.  I often experience a very annoying situation, where I
bring a Word (v 4.0) file formatted at home (using the Laser Writer Print
Driver) to school to print it out, and found on the screen that the tabs and
margins are all changed drastically.  The Laster Printer Driver in eah machines
(SE at home, MacIIvx, LC, IIci at school) are the same, though school machines
use system 7 while I do not (but the problem WAS there when we were using
system 6.0 for both machines). 

So here are my questions:

	1. Why does this happen?  Isn't it meaningless to format the file, if
once you try to print it out from a different mac you get a different
formatting from what you thought?

	2. Solution.  Does it help if I brought my own copy of WORD 4.0 and
install it on the school machine?  If not, what should I do?
