You or one of your colleagues recently requested a Globalization Resource Kit or attended one of our previous seminars. We would like to invite you to our upcoming Seminar on creating great worldwide applications for Windows "Chicago" (and how you can support the other Win32 platforms as well). Hope to see you here in September! Globalization Team Microsoft Developer Relations ==== ================== I N V I T A T I O N ===================================== Chicago Worldwide Seminar How to develop great international applications for Microsoft Windows "Chicago." The globalization team of Microsoft's Developer Relations Group will host a one day seminar on Wednesday, September 21st on the Microsoft main campus in Redmond, WA. The seminar will focus on how to create great 32-bit international applications for Windows "Chicago." We'll highlight the international features in Windows Chicago and explain how to take advantage of these while still being able to target Win32 on the other platforms. Plan of the day We'll begin with a short update on international opportunities for applications running on Windows Chicago. Even as a developer, you need basic information on how the various markets around the world compare so you can plan out your projects. After this short talk, the rest of the day deals directly with technical issues. Windows Chicago extends the international support of the Win32 API in several significant ways. We'll provide sample code and information on how to write an international app using the Win32 NLS APIs. We'll explain how to exploit Chicago's Multilingual I/O features and how to enable your application for the new consolidated Input Method Editor APIs. Then we'll have lunch. In the afternoon we'll focus on development and localization tools including Visual C++ 2.0, Visual C++ 2.0's AppStudio, and the resource localization tools available through the Microsoft Developer Network. With the help of sample code we'll demonstrate how to add double-byte character support for Far East character sets and Unicode support for both Chicago and 32-bit OLE. We'll show how to use the various tools to localize the result. We'll end with information on where to get more help and information. Sound like what you need? To sign up call 1-800-619-7689 (in the US and Canada) or (415) 979-2267 (outside the U.S. and Canada) or send a fax to (415) 979-2270. For $95.00 you'll get a day's worth of presentations, a CD-ROM with basic information on globalizing your application, and an application to join the Far East beta program for Windows Chicago. Space is limited. You will receive a confirmation letter with the starting time, final agenda, and directions to the seminar location. Please let us know 2 weeks in advance of the seminar if you require special accommodations. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
