I am writing an article on Software Internationalization, Localization
and Quality Assurance, and I am looking for any material on this topic. So
far, I have found the following two published references in addition
to a very short treatment in my own book:

1.	Kaner, Cem, Jack Falk and Hung Quoc Nguyen. Testing Computer
Software. 2nd ed. New York: Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1993.
ISBN 0-442-01361-2. In particular, see Chapter 9, Localization Testing.

2.	Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Windows: International Handbook
for Software Design. Redmond, Washington: Microsoft Corporation, 1990.
In particular, see Part 7 Testing International Software.

3.	Uren, Emmanuel, Robert Howard and Tiziana Perinotti. Software
Internationalization and Localization An Introduction. New York: Van
Nostrand Reinhold, 1993. ISBN 0-442-01498-8. In particular, see
Section 4.5 Validation and Quality Assurance.

The second reference by Microsoft is quite detailed.

If you know of any further references, or if you have some experience that
you would be willing to share, please let me know off-line at
76020.155@compuserve.com or +1-415-552-90885. Or post your reply
if you prefer.

I am particularly short on material about testing any software that is
internationalized and then localized for the Far East that uses
multi or double byte character sets, sorting, Input Method Editors and so
on. And I am also short on material on how to test bidirectional
 language localized versions.

Has anyone ever internationalized and localized a productUs corresponding
automated test suite, whether for European, Middle Eastern or Far
Eastern languages? What was the underlying tool? And was it a
successful endeavor or not?

Needless to say, but I will say it, I am willing to treat the material in
confidence or to acknowledge it if used, whichever you prefer.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Emmanuel Uren
