Abstract:

The SOLARIS(R) INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPER'S GUIDE is written for software
developers and business managers interested in creating global
applications that run on the Solaris environment for either SPARC(R) or
x86 platforms. The book begins with a marketing overview, and
subsequent chapters provide detailed instructions on how to develop
software with the SunOS(TM) system libraries and the OpenWindows(TM)
desktop environment.

Topics covered include:

-Cultural differences and how programmers can deal with them
-Graphical user interface design with the X Window System and its
         toolkits OLIT and XView(TM)
	-The DevGuide interface generator
	-Numerous C code examples
	-How to translate software
	-Writing translatable documentation
	-International standards, including Unicode
-Future considerations, for example, Common Desktop Environment
	 and Motif(R)
-Linguistic overview of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Solaris

Special guidelines are given for major language markets around the
world, including multibyte Asian languages and key European languages.
Detailed appendices cover language and territory names, SPARC and x86
keyboard layouts, and provide a bibliography and glossary.
