[Note from Jeff: Steve Dwyer (sdwyer@thor.nwac.sea06.navy.mil) recently
informed INSOFT-L about JWP, a freeware Japanese word
processor for Windows, available via anonymous ftp
Site: kilroy.jpl.nasa.gov
Directory: /pub/misc
Two INSOFT-L subscribers had additional questions about this program.
Their questions and Steve's answers follow.]

I'd like to know how are the fonts with this JWP, bitmaped font or even
outlined font?

THe statement regarding the Japanese wordprocessor
that it can give English to Kanji and also Kanji to English
mean I can read kanji text through it? or in other words ...
Does the Japanese word processor developed
have the abilty to traslate a file of Kanji's into
the it's readings (hiragana or romaji)????
If yes it's a great news !!!
Steve Dwyer's Answer
JWP is a Japanese Word Processor, not a translator. However, it does have
a dictionary feature, with which you can highlight a single Japanese or
English word and then insert the one-word translation into a separate active
document. The source code is included, so you may want to modify parts of
the program to translate a whole stream of kanji. To answer the third
question, JWP can go from kanji to hiragana but not to romaji. If you
really need romaji, it should not be very difficult to write your own
program to go from hiragana to romaji.
Stephen Chung (schung@kilroy.jpl.nasa.gov) is the author, if you have any
further questions, but I suggest you try the program first.
