SOFTWARE

     1. LINGUA Version 1.2, Anneke Sicherer-Roetman's multi-language
support package for C programs, is now available on our
anonymous ftp server rhino.cis.vutbr.cz (or via our mail
	server):

             Site: rhino.cis.vutbr.cz
             Directory: pub/lists/insoft-l/software/messagecat
             File: lingua12.xxe

     2. The following software is also available on our anonymous ftp
server rhino.cis.vutbr.cz (or via our mail server):

             Directory: pub/lists/insoft-l/software/messagecat
	     File: xstr.tar.Z
Comment: UNIX's xstr program (includes source code).
The following description comes from xstr's
			man page:

   Description

The xstr command maintains a file strings into which strings in com-
ponent parts of a large program are hashed. These strings are replaced
with references to this common area.

[Thanks to Neal Dalton (nrd@lenti.med.umn.edu) for the
	      reference to the xstr program]

ADMINISTRIVIA

     1. INSOFT-L's archive for May is now available.

     2. I could control who joins INSOFT-L, but I'd rather spend my
time doing other things (eating, sleeping, . . . ).

I could disable the command that enables an INSOFT-L subscriber
to get a list of all subscribers and their addresses, but why
should I penalize everyone for the sins of a few?

Once he (yes, the pronoun is appropriate in this case) has the
list of all subscribers and their addresses, I cannot control
what he does with it (e.g. sending a "personal" message to
everyone rather than sending an announcement to the list like
	other people do).
