A difference between OSI standards and Internet standards in the networking area is that some Internet standards (for example SMTP) use English-language or English-like words in the coding. OSI standards usually use a binary format with basically integer labels, so OSI standards are in this respect not related to a particular natural language. (OSI standards may be related to natural languages in their coding of data, where for example the name format in X.400/ 1984 version is strongly oriented toward English by the character set they allow in names.)
