MailWorks for UNIX V1.7-A

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

MailWorks for UNIX V1.7-A adds support for popular industry mail clients
and platforms such as Lotus cc:Mail, Microsoft Windows 95 Exchange (MAPI
1) clients, and Sun Solaris workstations. The MailWorks for UNIX product
family provides a way to integrate many dissimilar desktops, within the
workgroup and beyond. Users of Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, and UNIX
Motif clients participate as peers in an integrated workgroup, which may
be distributed across wide geographic areas.

MailWorks for UNIX is a major component of Digital's heterogeneous mail
offerings. Clients such as TeamLinks Mail can communicate with any
Digital mail server. The UNIX server, with its support for MAPI and
other clients, ensures that users can also have a multivendor,
heterogeneous hardware and software environment.

With the expansion of desktop access, MailWorks for UNIX servers allow
users to select their desktop of choice to access mail and communicate
with other users. The addition of these new clients confirms Digital's
commitment to deliver best-in-class mail products.

BENEFITS

o Reliability -- MailWorks for UNIX V1.7-A is a stable, released product.
MailWorks for UNIX servers have been in worldwide production use for more
   than a year

o Ease of wide-area connectivity -- No extra gateways are needed for an
exchange client to exchange mail with SMTP users

o Increased security -- Users can physically access only the information
that they are authorized to see

o Increased performance -- The server processes cache data, which reduces
the time required to make connections

o Better fault tolerance -- Store-and-forward handling of messages is
automatic, so gateway outages don't require manual recovery or result in
   lost mail

o Direct mail exchange with users of other client platforms --Includes
cc:Mail and Motif-based workstations from Digital and Sun

o Access customizable X.500 standards-based directories -- Eases
   communications across heterogeneous mail enterprises
