New Pricing on DEC Fortran 90 Products

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Digital has lowered prices on all its DEC Fortran 90 V2.0 for Digital
UNIX and OpenVMS products. The DEC Fortran 90 V2.0 concurrent license
prices are being lowered by 14 percent, while capacity prices are being
lowered by an average of 10 percent. In addition, prices for some DEC
Fortran products have been changed.

The Fortran 90 language is a superset of Fortran 77, so no conversion to
Fortran 90 is required. Furthermore, since DEC Fortran 90 supports nearly
all DEC Fortran extensions, most Fortran users can switch to DEC Fortran
90 with no source changes needed and no loss of performance. Users can
use the rich features of the Fortran 90 language and high-performance
Fortran (HPF) (only on Digital UNIX) in order to improve application
performance, take advantage of new architectures, and improve program
maintainability.

The Gartner Group recently reviewed the major Fortran 90 compilers
running on UNIX operating systems to determine which vendors and
technologies will be the worldwide high-performance computing (HPC)
leaders in the late 1990s. The results placed Digital at the top of the
12 leading systems and software vendors supplying Fortran. Gartner
Group's HPC Research Note (KA-220-329, July 1995), stated, "Bottom line:
It is clear that the strongest language strategy is Digital Equipment's
because it provides support for both Fortran 90 and HPF as well as a
parallel debugger and multiple levels of optimization."

AVAILABILITY AND ORDERING

The new prices for DEC Fortran 90 V2.0 and DEC Fortran V6.3 products are
effective immediately. These products are available now from Digital and
its business partners.
