PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS (SPD 48.16.01) provides the
most automated backup solution for the OpenVMS operating system. With
this latest version, POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS now
offers the same functionality for both Alpha and VAX platforms with
OpenVMS V6.1 and V6.2.

POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS offers a full range of
capabilities, including remote backup, unattended backup, user level
restore through online catalogs of backed-up and archived files,
sophisticated media lifecycle management, and automatic failure recovery
in OpenVMS Cluster environments. It also offers a graphical user
interface and easier configuration.

Since POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS continues to utilize
Media and Device Management Services V2.6 for OpenVMS, it can be
installed on the same systems with Digital's other Storage Management
Software products (POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem V1.2 for
OpenVMS and POLYCENTER Hierarchical Storage Management V1.1 for OpenVMS)
installed.

In addition, POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS can now restore
Storage Library System files. It is also compatible with POLYCENTER
Archive/Backup V1.0 for OpenVMS, so users can upgrade their installations
over time, without shutting down the system.

AVAILABILITY AND ORDERING

POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for OpenVMS is included in the Storage
Library System V2.6 kits for Alpha and VAX systems. The Storage Library
System license works with either product. Media and Documentation kits
are purchased separately. The documentation included with the Storage
Library System V2.6 kits contain installation instructions for both
Storage Library System V2.6 and POLYCENTER Archive/Backup V1.1 for
OpenVMS.  These kits are available now through Digital and its business
