Press Release COMDEX Internet & Object World Frankfurt '97 Panel to Analyze Distributed Object Computing standards Frankfurt -- October 1997. Will it be ActiveX, JAVA or CORBA? Which technology will have a better chance to become a standard for the next generation of distributed computing? With the provocative title "Distributed Object Standards... Will There be Two?", a keynote panel of top IT industry executives will discuss these issues at COMDEX Internet & Object World Frankfurt '97. Scheduled for October 9, from 11:00-12.30, the panel moderated by Professor Roberto Zicari, Chair of the Advisory Board, will include Patricia Dock, IBM, David Black, Chief Scientist The Open Group, Peter Mossack, Vice President Software AG, Dr. Richard Soley, CTO Office of the President, Object Management Group, and Richard Weir, Chief of Staff of Corporate Technology Novell Inc. The keynote will be open to all attendees of COMDEX Internet & Object World Frankfurt (October 7-10, 1997, Sheraton Conference Center, Frankfurt Airport). "Objects are increasingly becoming the foundation technology for most of today's mission critical software applications. The majority of such applications are distributed by nature. It is therefore of great importance that the distribution of objects among networks and platforms rely on a sound and accepted standard", says Prof. Roberto Zicari, Chair of the Advisory Board and responsible for the design of the COMDEX Internet & Object World Frankfurt '97 conference. A lack of an industry agreed-upon standard can have a negative repercussion on the booming market for distributed software applications, such as business applications using the Internet."
