Greetings one and all,

How many people have heard the rumors that Telstra have applied to the 
Government seeking approval to time charge local Internet calls?

Apparently this story first hit the wire in the Melbourne Age earlier
this week.  I've also heard via my folks that a brief news item about
this issue went to air on 612 4QR on Wednesday.

I strongly suggest that everyone contact their local State and Federal
members of Parliment and voice their objections.  Contact the media and
let them know how you feel.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has any concrete evidence as to what
Telstra is planning in the way of charges per time unit.

We must stand united on this issue.

BTW, there is no need to get hot headed and abusive when talking with
Telstra staff.  They are only doing their jobs.  Such matters arise 
from up high and are outside the control of these people.  Keep this 
in mind if you ring Telstra.  Courtesy costs nothing and in many cases
it can achieve plenty.
