                        Meeting Announcement
                        --------------------

This is the official announcement of the sixth meeting of HUMBUG, the
Home Unix
Machine, Brisbane User Group. The club exists to introduce people to
Unix and
Unix like operating systems, and to help users in operating those
systems.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

                        HUMBUG Details
                        --------------

Name: Home Unix Machine, Brisbane User Group.

Fee: $15/year. Non-members will be charged $5 per meeting.
This $5 will be put toward the membership fee, so after
                3 meetings a non-member automatically becomes a member.
Those just wanting to come and have a look will not
be charged for the first couple of meetings.
Operating
System: As the name suggests, the club caters to Home Unix
machines. The following Operating Systems all fall
                into this category:
                                        FreeBSD
                                        The Hurd
                                        Linux
                                        Mach
                                        Minix
                                        NetBSD
                                        OpenBSD
                                        Solaris(x86)

The club is currently dominated by Linux users.
Everyone is invited, whether you are a Unix user, are
just interested in becomming one, or would just like to
see what this Unix thing is all about.

                        Next Meeting Details
                        --------------------
                        *******************************
Where: ****** Venue has changed ******
                        *******************************

Room 2.16, in Prentice Centre at the University of Queensland,
Brisbane, Australia. A map is available on our World Wide Web page
        at:
                http://karanthia.cc.uq.edu.au/humbug/meetwhere.html

Please note, that at the time of writing the instructions next to the
map are for the old meeting place. The instructions in this article
are correct. Not that the diference is huge, as the old and new
rooms are in the same building.

Detailed instructions on how to get there are available at
	the end of this article.

Date: Saturday, 10th of Feburary, 1996.

Time: 3:00pm until late (we have the room until 1:00am)

Format: Usually we joke around, tell Unix horror stories, show off Unix
knowledge, hang around on irc, etc. The meeting are pretty informal,
but we occassionally have talks on various topics. People bring
along
configuration problems for us to fix up.

Talks: None designated yet. Anyone want to do a talk for the next meeting?

Library: We have a library including Copies of the Linux Journal and CDs
that club members can borrow from. More CDs are expected in the
         near future.

Computers: I encourage all members to bring their machines to the next
meeting. Thankyou to all those people who have brought their
           computers before.

Misc: Tea/Coffee free at meetings. Feel free to bring your own cups
to save the club money on styrophome cups. After all we would
rather spend it on CDs than styrophome :-)
Please bring biscuits/chips/etc, so we can share them around.
A great home style pizza place is a five minute walk away, or
you can order in pizza for dinner.
                        Internet access
                        ---------------
During the meeting we will have Internet access. I'm not sure of the
exact shape this will take, now that the venue has changed. Perhaps
we will end up with a proxy router as we have in previous meetings, or
possibly a live connection for all machines.
Either way, full Internet access is available for all machines present.

This will only really work if people bring their machines along to the
meetings. Lets get as many machines there as we can.
The more Unix machines we have, the better for all of us.

                        How to get there
                        ----------------

Prentice Centre is situated at the St Lucia campus of The University of
Queensland. Cars not holding University of Queensland parking permits are
allowed to park in 'permit zones' all day Saturday.
To reach Prentice Centre after entering St Lucia drive along Sir Fred
Schonell Drive until you come to a roundabout. Turn right into
Coleridge St. Follow this road until you get to another roundabout. Then
take Upland Rd, turning left into Sir Willam MacGregor Drive. Turn left
into College Rd, then left into Cooper Rd, and finally into Mansfield Rd.
Prentice Centre is then the last building on the right as you drive up
the road.
Room 2.16 is on the ground level. when facing the front of Prentice
Centre, walk through a large set of doors near the right hand end of the
building. The entrance to room 2.16 is visible when you enter the
building. Room 2.16 is a large air conditioned lecture theatre.

I suggest anyone not familiar with The University of Queensland at
St Lucia consult a refedex, or our web page (as mentioned above)
before attempting to find Prentice Centre.
