Question (another one) about natural gas stoves.

First of all, thanks to all the people who contributed to the very
informative discussion on natural gas furnaces and water heaters (and
their merits relative to other energy sources).

Now for the next step, since I'm most likely going to go for the natural
gas heated house (along with natural gas water heater), why not get a
natural gas counter-top stove? I need to buy one either way, and the sales
people all seem to think that, since natural gas is available as an
option, then "there is no other choice since it is so superior".

I have cooked (very briefly) with a gas stove and found that it had some
definite advantages i.e. instantaneous heat, and instantaneous
end-of-the-heat once you're done, as well as a nice, stable, heat while
cooking. I'd like to hear from people who have experience and/or an
opinion on the subject. The type of information I'd like to see covered
includes:

- explosion risks (I know it's really low, but does anybody have any
  statistics?)

- economy (how much does one spend on cooking one's meals, anyway?)

- reliability (will I need replacement parts twice as frequently as I
  would for an electric stove?)

- re-sale risk factor (some people are very afraid of gas and would NOT
buy a house with a gas stove)

- and finally, general cooking advantages/disadvantages (I know, for
instance, that other types of stoves have problems:

. electric stoves with serpentine elements are hard to keep clean
. electric stoves with "ceran" cooking surface get hot all over (not
just in the cooking area, thereby increasing burn risks)
. electric stoves with solid cast iron heating elements take forever
to warm up and the same amount of time to cool down
. So what are the disadvantages of a natural gas stove (a modern
     unit, obviously)?

Thanks in advance to everyone who will contribute to this discussion.
