I will likely be spending a fair bit of money on French CDs sometimes
soon (someone else's money - an email friend from the U.S. who can't
get these disks there). Any suggestions for a local store with a good
selection and good prices? By local, I mean anywhere in Ottawa/Hull
region.

I'll be looking for disks by artists like Richard Desjardins, Leo Ferre,
and Francis Cabrel, if it matters.

Thanks.

Music World in the Rideau Centre (Rideau street level) and
the CounterPoint II store in the Byward market (on Murray
street, just next to Pecco's) have quite a wide selection
of French CD's.

Personnellement, j'ai un petit faible pour CounterPoint; ils
offrent un choix beaucoup plus varie de musique, et leurs prix
ne sont pas exhorbitants. En plus, il est possible d'ecouter
un CD avant de l'acheter.

Marc.

Rhe'al,

Because Desjardins, Leo Ferre and Cabrel are pretty mainstream, you
shouldn't have any problem finding the disks on the Ontario side. I've
found that, of the mainstream stores, HMV usually has the best selection
of french music.

And of course, the farther east you go, the better it gets...

If you can't find the titles in Ontario, or for a better selection, head
over to Les Promenades in Gatineau, which have an HMV and a Music World.

Happy shopping...

I find CD warehouse on Merivale Road (next to CJOH station) has
good prices. (It may not have alot of French music however)

This is excellent a store that lets you hear the CD before you
buy it. I will definitely go there to try it out.
