For those who enjoy amatuer live theatre there will be a
presentation of "A Thousand Clowns" by Herb Gardner next
week. It opens Thursday Feb 10th and runs Friday and
Saturday at 8.00 p.m doors open 7.30 p.m in Lakeside
Gardens, Britannia Park. Sunday Matinee 2.00 p.m.
Tickets at the door $8.00, $6.00 Students and Seniors.
The play is set in New York City in the early sixties.
Murray Burns, an eccentric, single, tv screen writer
has looked after Nick, his sisters abandoned son, for
many years. The NYC Board of Child Welfare has become
aware of the situation and tries to remove Nick to a
foster home unless Murray meets certain requirements.
Nick's affection for Murray; Murray's eccentric,
continuous stream of imagination and ideas; the
'beaurocracy' represented by Albert Amundsen the BCW
intervenor; the ditsy humanity of Sandra Markowitz,
the BCW child psychologist; the business sense of
Arnold Burns, Murray's brother and agent; and the wild
energy of Leo Herman, the lead character chipmunk in
one of the shows Murray writes for; they all combine to
make scenes mixing comedy, pathos and warmth, and something
we need just now, a happy ending.
My regards ....Mike.

And part of the plot is based around why he needs this job to keep custody of his nephew. -- INTERNET: mshapiro@netlink.nix.com (Michael Shapiro) UUCP: ...!ryptyde!netlink!mshapiro Network Information eXchange * Public Access in San Diego, CA (619) 453-1115
