Hi!

Thanks for opening this post and reading it!

I've created a paradox7 table with the database desktop. This table contains
just a few fields, and I'm having trouble with two of them. One of the two
is a formated memo field and the other is a graphics field. The problem I
have with these fields is related. I am unable to enter text in the memo
field, and I'm unable to browse/select an image file for the graphics field.
In the Database Desktop help on the topic, it only says that I have to use
Paradox. What is this? Is it a standalone software that I have to buy? If it
is, skip to the next paragraph of this post, if it is not, please tell me
the how-to's for my above question!

So, Paradox requires aditional software? Oh well. Then lets hear the
alternatives.
I want to create a database table that can hold text strings, memos, and
graphics. I want to write a program that uses this database in much the same
way as in the "fish database" tutorial that came with my Borland software
(in the leaflet). BUT in adition, I want to sort, retrive and browse this
table by categories, and alphabeticaly, as well as displaying the graphics
and the memos of course! (The memos only need to be text, although formating
would be nice).

What type of Database can I use to acomplish all this, it has to be a
database that I don't need any aditional software to set up. (I have the
Borland C++ builder 5 pro).

Thanks for reading all through this mess, and I hope for swift advise so I
can continue setting up the database and enter all the stuff that goes into
it. (And then I'll try to conect to my database through my own app, but
thats for another post. ;)
