I have an ADO recordset persisted as a XML file.
I am able to open the file and load it into a DBGrid using an ADORecordset

I have not been able to find out how to save the edits back into the file.

I have tried  ADORecordSet1->SaveToFile("file.xml") and it saves the
original data into the file.

I have tried ADORecordSet1->BatchUpdate(arAll); then savetofile and I get
the original data returned.
Therefore, I am missing a most obvious and simple concept.

Any suggestions are most welcome
