Access can handle SQL, that isn't the problem. The problem is that each individual client workstation has access to its data file without any knowledge of the others. A client-server database has a server process that mediates access to the database and prevents the sort of problems being experienced - but Access is not one of those. Also, the ADO components can work with non-SQL databases through the use of commands provided by its driver through things like TADOCommand. Though I can't think of anything on the market that cannot accept SQL, at least not any DBMS with significant market share. ------ Mark Cashman, TeamB C++ Builder http://www.temporaldoorway.com/programming/index.htm C++ Builder, JBuilder programming information Home of The C++ Builder Programmer's Webring - Join us! ------
