I cnnnot seem to get this problem fixed. Searching the groups for "Multiple-step operation generated errors" yields only a few posts of which most have only a question. Some of the suggestions that I did see still do not work. I am connecting to an Access file that was generated by a SQL Server database (I can connect to the Serveralso with the same results). I use an ADO COnnection and an adoDataSet to access the data. It is displayed with a DBGrid with no problem. I use a DB edit to display a value from one of the fields as I navigate the records. I want to change the value in the database using the DBEdit. This actually works. I can see the value updated in the DBGrid when I change the value in DBEdit. Theproblem comes when I navigate to the next record when the error occurs. Th strange thing is this... If I change the value from its default value of "0" to any 1 digit number (0-9) it works fine. When I try to change to anything over 1 digit the error occurs. thanks for any help. Kev
