Is it possible to create a TADODataSet, populate it with some records, and save it to a file (e.g. SaveToFile to be later opened with LoadFromFile) without connecting to a server. I'm getting errors that the ADODataSet can not be opened without a connection or connection string defined. Is there a specific way that I should populate this information if I want the ADODataSet to be self-sufficient. In the short term I just want to use the DataSet to organize data from a flat file to a more logical representation of the data, that is easier to work with. Should I just use, TClientDataSet. I wanted to use TADODataSet as I thought it might ease migration to a central data store later a little easier (not in my short term plans). Thanks, Joe

Answered my own question. Since I didn't load the data from another source, I needed to call the TADODataSet::CreateRecordSet() function to have an empty working recordset to work with. Thanks, Joe
