Hi,
I have an app that uses the following connection string to vfp
"Provider=MSDASQL.1;Persist Security Info=False;Extended
Properties="Driver={Microsoft Visual FoxPro
Driver};UID=;SourceDB=C:\DATA.DBC;SourceType=DBC;Exclusive=No;BackgroundFetch=Yes;Collate=Machine;Null=Yes;Deleted=Yes;"
which used to work just fine. Then out of the blue, when ever the app
tried to connect to the database, the program hangs and odly, the disk
hives?? From a known good backup, i restored first tthe db, then
msdasql.dll, msdasqlr.dll, and then vfpoledb.dll. All with the same
disatrous results.Of course re-booting did nothing!! OS is wk2.
Finally, i discovered an alternative connection string,
"Provider=vfpoledb;Data Source=C:\DATA.DBC;"
which works just fine.
So can someone please tell me what the problem is with the first string
and why this should make the disk hive, and the app hang, when
previously this same app was connecting and working just fine. Thanks
in advance, angus.
