Assuming you have a MySQL server eunning somewhere to connect to...

-MySQL ODBC driver
-Borland ADO Components (included with BCB6 Pro+)

-or-

-Borland native DbExpress drivers (although not all MySQL versions are
supported.)

Hi while I have not YET connected BCB to MySQL I have installed it using
something called a WinAMP. This WinAMP installs apache mysql and php -
I use the FoxServ Winamp for this.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/foxserv/

Anywho, MySQL is supposed to install as a service that you can start and
stop. You should see a traffic light in the icon tray that you can use
to do basic start/stop of the mysql interface.

If you installed it via FoxServ, you will get an option to create an
account, which can then be used to login to the system. Also with
Foxserv you can use the localhost apache connection to administrate your
MySQL tables.

I am currently doing a short course on web engineering
(apache/mysql/php/javascript/dom/sql/xml) so this is how I get the
experience.

NOW To run it you must launch a cmd prompt at the bin path for the mysql
installation...
then login something like this...
mysql -u root mysql
(login using the root username without a password from the mysql database)
then you get a prompt like this..

mysql>

NOTE: I did not know what the root password was so I deleted it via the
PhpMyAdmin interface that came with the package via localhost....

Hope this helps....

Double Click on the MySQL file you downloaded.
