Hello,

I want to transport Recordset of ADO components over TCP/IP as Variant

Everything goes well if i try save TADOQuery.Recordset in Variant variable:
var
a_Variant : Variant;
begin
  a_Variant := Query1.Recordset;
end;

But if i try to assign Variant back to Recordset

 Query2.Recordset := a_Variant;

i get error - can not assign Variant to _Recordset

Please help.

1- Save the Recordset to XML
2- Transport the XML over TCP/IP
3- Create anew Recordset object at the remote end
4- Load the XML into the new recordset object

Sounds not very good.
If Recordset could be possible to save to stream but not to file.
I think that will extremely slow down system to exchange Datasets via file.

Yes, it can be saved to a stream. I routinely save recordsets to
TStringStream instances and transport the resulting XML to a remote process
via a method parameter, where it is loaded back in to a new Recordset
object.
