Hello, I have an Access DB that I have set up with security, (i.e. I followed the steps for 'ACC2000: Overview of How to Secure a Microsoft Access Database', http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q254/3/72.asp) I can open this database in Access by providing the correct name/password combo. My problem is trying to connect with a TADOConnection component. I've tried using the MS Jet 4.0 provider and by creating an ODBC 'System DSN' and using the ODBC Driver. With Jet when I press 'Test Connection' I get, "Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user." With ODBC I get, "Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] You do not have the necessary permissions to use the '(unknown)' object. Have your system adminmistrator or the persion who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you." My guess is I need to somehow point to my MS Access system database (the *.mdw file), but I don't know how to do that. Best regards, m.t

In C++ builder 2006 ADOConnection: use the connection builder. Data Links Properties - All tab Scroll down to JETOLEDB: System Database select it and click the Edit value button Enter your path and system.mdw should be good to go.
