All my previous BCB ADO apps have either been single user with an MS Access database residing on the same PC as the user, or have been multiuser with MS SQL Server. I now want to develop a multiuser BCB app with ADO, which will allow multiple users on multiple PCs to use a single MS Access database. Is this possible with ADO? Are there any restrictions on the PC where the MS Access database will reside? -- Simon Elliott http://www.ctsn.co.uk

You may have to tweak the network settings to get a robust implementation (especially server caching), but it's doable. I would say 5-10 concurrent users is probably okay.

The initial implementation will only have half a dozen users with only one at a time needing write access. (If this increases then since I'm using ADO it shouldn't be a big deal to port to SQL server.) What's the best way to determine how to set up the ADO connect string? -- Simon Elliott http://www.ctsn.co.uk
