'Variant Array is Locked'

Does anyone know what this error message means?  I'm getting it using 
DBExpress with C++Builder 6.0 and EITHER MySQL or IAnyWhere 9.01.

It happens when I try to scroll through a table that has another table 
linked back as a MasterSource.  If I unhook the Mastersource in the second 
table, the problem goes away.
