dbExpress in C++ Builder 6 only works with MySQL 4.0.xx (I could confirm 
4.0.20a is working), it will not work with MySQL 4.1.xx.

so please make sure you have the competible version of MySQL.

As for MySQL version higher than 4.0.xx, I don't know if any version of 
dbExpress is supporting them, not even with the one in TC++ Explorer. See my 
thread 2 stories above.
