You have installed BCB6 trial I suppose so:

- indigenous dbExpress components are compatible with MySQL 3
  (I use the last stable version 3.23); working properly, fast
  and stable without problems;

- maybe you should to use third-party components as (e.g. MyDAC
   from CoreLab, Zeos, etc. ) as you want to use newest MySQL
   release.
