In addition to my previous topic from 7th July: I think we found a bug in dbExpress. I have tested the follow SQL query: SELECT field1, field2, field3 FROM atable WHERE field1 = :avalue; the result of the select is a set of approximately 300 records. The response time to retrieve this set is approx. 0.03 s. If I add a table alias to the query, like this: SELECT field1, field2, field3 FROM atable analias WHERE field1 = :avalue; then the response time to retrieve the same data set is approx. 3.1 s, a factor 100 slower!! Note: the querie must have a WHERE clause! (without WHERE is makes no difference). If I add a join to this querie, like: select a.field1, a.field2, a.field3 from atable a, btable b where b.field4=:avalue and a.bid=b.id; then we do not have problems with the reponse time. We use an Interbase database and I have tested these two queries in IBConsole. These tests make no difference. In both cases the response time to retrieve the data set was in milliseconds. At this moment I can not test these queries with an other database connection, so I can not find out if it is a bug in the Interbase driver of dbExpress or in dbExpress. Can anyone confirm if this really is bug?? Kind regards, Leen Keus
