strange access violation problem

Hi,

I would be grateful, if you could help me with the following problem.

I have written two applications. The first one is an NT service and the
second a gui.
The service opens a TTable that is located on a network directory
and the gui just displays/edits the same table.

The problem occurs when we run first the service and then the gui.
When we do this, the service runs OK, but THE GUI gives an "Access
violation" exception.
It seems that the problem occurs when we change the alias where the
table
is located and the NetDir file (using the BDE admin.util.).

How to reproduce this problem

1) create two aliases on two different locations of the network
2) create a TTable with a simple structure and put one copy of it in
each alias
3) put a different NetDir file in each alias

4) make the TTables (of the service and of the gui)
to point at the same table of the same alias
5) set the NetDir file to the one that is located in the same directory
where the alias - that the service and the gui are using - is
located.
6) run the service, run the gui. Everything should be OK

Repeat the steps 4, 5 and 6 using the second alias and the second NetDir
file.
Now when you run the gui, you should get an "Access violation" exception

while the service is running OK.

Environment description

BCB3, BDE 5.1.1, Paradox 7 tables, Win NT 4 - service pack 4.

Cheers,
Yanis

PS : I have written a small demo if somebody is interested in
reproducing the problem.
