Hi, Peter! You need to have the correct ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity (IIRC)) driver installed on the machine from which you are running, and the BDE (Borland Database Engine) too. Use odbcad32.exe to create an ODBC DSN (Data Set Name). This is database dependent, but you usually have to tell the ODBC administrator program at that time which driver to use and then tell the driver which database you want to use. If your BDE is set up with the System | INIT parameters AutoODBC = true (see bdeadmin.exe for this value, then you get an alias with the same name as the DSN automatically. If not, you can create an alias and point it at the correct DSN. Again, this is somewhat DBMS dependent, so I can't describe it. Finally, if there is a BDE driver for the database in question, you can skip all the ODBC stuff and use that one. I hope this helps. ------ Mark Cashman, TeamB C++ Builder http://www.temporaldoorway.com/programming/index.htm C++ Builder, JBuilder programming information Home of The C++ Builder Programmer's Webring - Join us! ------
