Need BDE error help

I have a simple tester app set up with a form, which contains a Grid,
DataSet, Provider, ClientDataSet and DataSource (BCB 3)

The problem is when I activate the client data set then edit one of
the fields in the grid, then navigate to another cell in the grid. I
get the following error message:

Project Project1.exe raised exception class EDBClient with message
'Trying to modify read-only field.'

According to the BDE error listings on the web
http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,15283,00.html

this is a security related access violation, (error 10502 : $2906).

However, I have tried building and running this tester app on 4 other
development machines in our shop, and all of them run successfully. We
are all running the same versions of the BDE (the latest), all using
the same BCB 3 development environment and all accessing the database
(MSSQL server) with the same user login parameters. I can find no
differences in any dlls, packages, or security rights settings between
the machines.

Can anyone shed some additional light on this exception and why the
behavior on my computer would be different?
Thanks in advance.
