Hi,
I am starting to use InstallShield Express instead of the InstallShield that
came with BCB5 Ent. I am deploying apps using TTable and TDataSet
components. From long experience, I can see that the special BCB5
InstallShield included the following BPL and CPL files that appear to be
related to BDE (and BCB apps):
systemfolder:
bdeadmin.cpl (for control panel)
vcl50.bpl (vcl not bde really?)
vclbde50.bpl
vcldb50.bpl
vclx50.bpl (vcl not bde really?)
app folder
cc3250mt.bpl (borland package)
windows folder
borlndmm.dll
My first thought was simply to include those files in my new InstallShield
Express project and just see if it works.
However I notice in BDEDEPLOY.TXT in CommonFiles\BDE, that we're not
supposed to deploy BDE libraries without loading the whole thing. Does my
selection of CPL and BPLs constitute a breach of the license? If it is
okay, can I put all those files in the application folder itself?
If it is possible to make a partial deployment how is that done outside of
the BCB5 InstallShield?
In InstallShield Express we have the opportunity to include the BDE Merge
Module, and I see how to do that, but if I include the Merge Module should I
remove some of the BPLs I listed above?
Knowledgeable advice from you would be great.
Wally
