thanks Andrue for all the infos! I am now able to 'TextOutW' chinese strings etc. which I have hardcoded in hex format in code. That is currently all I need. Two additional questions though: I assign "Arial Unicode MS" as you told me. Although it works, looking at the Windows/Fonts directory I can't find this font file. Any idea where to find it? On my Win98 machine I only get black rectangles for the characters. I am aware of the fact that Win98 is very limited in handling Unicode. But since TextOutW is implemented in Win98 too, would it be enough to just install the Arial Unicode font together with an application? thanks for your time Nick
