thanks Alan for the reply.

I already have installed several languages like Turkish, Hebrew, Thai and
Korean to name just a few. Now I found with Google that Arial Unicode MS
was only available for registered MS Office users. Since I don't have
Office on my development machine that's probably the reason why I
can't find this file.

However, I'm a little confused now. All east asian and arabic texts display
correctly without specifying any specific font. I can leave it as MS Sans
Serif
and DEFAULT_CHARSET but I still get arabic characters!

The special turkish characters I only get when setting the font name to
Arial Unicode MS, although I don't have this file???

I'm also still confused about the role of the Charset property for a
given font. For example I want to display some arabic characters.
I leave the Font name at MS Sans Serif and get correct arabic text
even when I set the Charset to RUSSIAN_CHARSET!!!

I'm most likely missing the basic concept here.
Any hints or links welcome!

thanks,
Nick
