I'm having the same problem. I'm running Borland Builder 6,
Pro edition on XP Pro. During startup I get an access violation in ntdll!RtlpWaitForCriticalSection at
7C918F97 (almost the same spot as Dan's). What's really getting
me though is that if I compile from the command line the
program runs! As far as I can see, I've set the options in the
IDE to be the same as those in the makefile. Any suggestions?

Also, what's with Unicode apps? Are there special settings or
libraries to link to?
