Good morning,
I don't know for certain where you can find DFM file format information but
did you know that DFM files can be written out in text format? Perhaps in
this way it would be easier for you to translate.

Use right mouse button to click on your forms and select "View as Text".
This will open a text file view of DFM data in the editor window. There is
also a "DFM as Text" selection that may be checked or unchecked. I don't
know what it does and frankly just discovered it now as I was answering your
question. Perhaps this allows DFM files to be always saved in text format.
Hope this has helped. Good luck.

Steve
