Socket Connections through the Web and a router using NAT?

I have a Server Socket Program and I have a Client Socket
program. On my LAN these two programs work like a charm, but
when I try to access my Server Socket from a computer outside
of the Network(over the internet) I get an error:

"Windows Socket Error: The requested name is valid and was
found in the database, but it does not have the correct
associated data being resolved for (11004), on API 'ASync
Lookup' "

To let you know exactly what I am doing: I have a Network that
has a public IP address, let's say, of 123.45.67.89... I have a
router at that address that connects to our LAN. I run the
ServerSocket program on a computer in the LAN at
192.168.1.17... On the router, which is the only firewall we
are using, we use port forwarding to connect to the
ServerSocket computer. Therefore the address of
123.45.67.89:6111 should connect me to 192.168.1.17 from
outside of the LAN. This does, in fact, work for other programs
like Ultra VNC, but not for my SocketServer program.

I did some research on the error message I got and it mentioned
something about a name server and/or a host table. I don't know
how much that will help though.

Any suggestions on how I can overcome this problem?

Thanks,

Chris
