Ciaran's reply: "Indy 9 can only retrieve complete messages from servers that send out an email terminator CRLF.CRLF at the end of the message (I think there is a comment to this effect at the start of later TIdIMAP4.pas versions). Some servers do not do this, and Indy 9 can hang waiting for the CRLF.CRLF. Indy 10 uses a different mechanism for retrieving, that uses a byte-count field, which seems to work with all servers. Indy 10's TIdIMAP4 is significantly better than Indy 9, particularly with servers whose "unsolicited responses" cannot be turned off (these are typically updates of the status of the current mailbox). Some others have got Indy 10 working on CBuilder6 but you may need to check the other newsgroups here to find out how."
