Thank you for your reply, Gambit.

Re the NetMaster stuff, it didn't occur to me that the email components
would be quite so flaky. I've implemented a browser using their HTTP
component and it was really quite smooth. The product has been running
faultlessly for a couple of years; I just didn't suspect the code.
Personally, I tend to think that I'm not correctly interpreting the
semantics when things don't go right and keep digging further into the code
until there is no further to go, at which point the problem is either
solved, or there's an error in the system. I really don't give up easily.

Having said that, I was rather disappointed to read your comment that the
components in the new upgrade are not likely to help me. If NetMaster have
been known to be pretty bad for sometime, there has been time to do
something about it, i.e., pick it up and get it sorted out with another
supplier or change to someone else's, keeping where possible as much of the
syntax as is reasonable. Indeed, getting an up-to-date Indy version in
there, wouldn't be a bad solution. I feel let down by all this, especially
when considering the price of the product. You can imagine, too, that I
don't really want to throw away a fair proportion of the effort I've
invested so far.

Ok, that's the grump, so to reality! I have to go to Indy 10 for what I
want (snd/rec HTML mails). On reading the posts and web pages on installing
Indy 10 I am a bit put off by some of the guess work that seems needed,
which is why I asked if there existed something easy to follow. Yes, I
found the 'INDY10Install' page and will have a go at it.

Any other helpful hints are welcome.

Peter Evans.
