Please show a complete code snippet that actually compiles.  Also, in your
original message, you said that you are using the socket in non-blocking
mode, but also using a thread to send data.  You should not mix the two.  If
you use non-blocking, then do not use threads.  If you do use threads, then
you should use blocking mode instead.
